Divergent Week: Welcome, Initiates!

Monday 31 March 2014
So the Choosing Ceremony has come to an end and we have our faction initiates! I can now reveal that Holly (A Day Dreamer's Thoughts) is the faction leader of Abnegation, Cat (co-creator) is the faction leader of Amity, Fionnuala (Books for Birds) is the faction leader of Candor, I am the faction leader of Dauntless(!) and Charli (To Another World) is the faction leader of Erudite. The initiates in each faction are as follows:

Just in case the graphic isn't clear enough... In Abnegation we have: Ruby, Saira, rabidfairy, Orli and Priyanka. In Amity we have: Sunny, Erika, Amber, The Magic Violinist and Manda. In Candor we have: Samantha W, Ashley, Iris, Hagar and Denise. In Dauntless we have: Z, jack da cabbaehj, Sarbi, Maiya and Sam. In Erudite we have: Francoise, Ellen, Ella, Kayla and Vicky.

Your faction leader will be emailing you shortly so you have access to their email address for task purposes but, since it's your first night, you get a night off to explore your new living area and initiation begins tomorrow (in other words, the tasks you can win points for doing will be revealed tomorrow)! ;)

I thought I could use today's post to explain a little more about what Divergent Week will entail for this blog and also why I chose to be the faction leader of Dauntless. As we already touched upon last week, the purpose of Divergent Week is to generate some excitement for the film's release in the UK and to simply just showcase our love for the novel! Throughout the week myself and Cat will be posting up some Divergent related posts as well as, hopefully, some of the initiates (*wink wink*) so a corner of the blogosphere may be going a little Divergent crazy *crosses fingers*. ;D

So I, me, Rachel, was going to explain why I feel Dauntless is the faction for me but, instead, Cat's stepped in to tell you why she thinks I belong in Dauntless:

I think Rachel suits Dauntless perfectly because she is the most daring, adventurous person I know.
She literally cannot sit still, always has to be outdoors and you can't go to her house without her
pulling you up a tree or pushing you down a hill (seriously). I've known Rachel for years and I can
honestly say that she's made me more adventurous and made me realise that being outside can
actually be quite fun. Rachel is always up for trying something new and nothing ever seems to
bother her - I really admire this. In my opinion, Rachel is the epitome of Dauntless.

So that's all for today's post, guys! I'm seriously so excited for this week and I hope you all are too! xD

Happy Reading,
Rachel xoxo

PS: You can check out Cat's post on her blog HERE - her post explains a couple more aspects of Divergent Week in more detail! :)

Initiates, Sign Up NOW! [Divergent Week]

Thursday 27 March 2014
So myself and my friend, Catriona (Through a Cat's Eyes), are rather obsessed with Divergent and, since the movie is set to release in the UK on the 4th of April, we've decided to do a 'Divergent Week' from the 31st of March until the 6th of April. Basically, we're not going to let you into too much right now but we can tell you that the entirety of next week will be full of Divergent-y goodness (hopefully!), in celebration of the film's release!

However, we can let you in on one thing. We're going to be recruiting initiates from here until Saturday at midnight, and this is where you come in. We want you to be an initiate! Fill out the following form (aka. the Choosing Ceremony!) and you will be assigned a faction which you will be able to win points for by partaking in tasks (or Initiation Tests, as we like to call them) next week. This is all for fun so there won't be any prizes for the winning faction (except a button for your blog most likely!), we're basically just looking to get people excited about Divergent!

Please fill out the form honestly (so we can sort you into the faction that would be best for you)! We are in no way Veronica Roth but having reread Divergent a few times, we're hoping we kind-of know who will fit in where. Let me stress again, this is all for fun - it's in no way sponsored, we are just spreading the love of Divergent! :D

You don't have to have read the book or have a blog to fill out the form and become an initiate (though, admittedly, it will help you for some of the tasks)! :P
We're hoping to generate a lot of excitement and would be grateful if you spread the word about Divergent Week! You can use the hashtag #bloggersdodivergentweek, we certainly will be! We also have a button you can put up on your blog! *wink wink* ;P
DIVERGENT WEEK

Happy Reading,
Rachel AND Cat xoxo

PS: We're hoping this sounds fun?! ;D

Showcase Sunday {25}

Sunday 23 March 2014
I'm actually quite excited to show you the few books I've managed to acquire over the past number of weeks today... All look pretty fantastic.

my dog is currently casting, apologies for the dog hair ;3

So I've more or less been watching The Maze Runner movie trailer over and over again since it came out a couple days ago because the movie looks freaking a-m-a-z-i-n-g! And I'm not just saying that because Dylan O'Brien looks beautiful, it simply looks like the type of movie I'd love. So when I spotted the book in WHSmith yesterday, I bought it pretty much on the spot. I'm currently reading it right now and really enjoying it!

Then I had a little look around and noticed Vampire Academy. Another YA book-to-movie adaption. Though I don't think the movie looks too much like my cup of tea, I have always wanted to read the book and, since I'll undoubtedly watch the movie at one point or another, I want to have read the book beforehand (yes, I'm one of THOSE people). ;P

The other two books, Dark Inside by Jeyn Roberts and Revolution 19 by Gregg Rosenblum I received from Amber (The Mile Long Bookshelf) when she was giving away a whole load of her books. I'm super excited to read both of these as both sound like really thrilling reads!

Have any of you read any of these books? What did you think? What books did you receive this week? Link me up!

Happy Reading,
Rachel xoxo

Update & A Rather Big Surprise!

Tuesday 18 March 2014
So... anyone notice anything different?

No? Me neither.

EXCEPT MY GORGEOUS NEW DESIGN BY THE WONDERFUL VICKY OVER AT BOOKS, BISCUITS AND TEA! *cradles laptop*

Can the new blog design act as a token of forgiveness? I'm so sorry for leaving you all for so long... *hides face in shame* I hate doing it but I've been really stressed lately and I think that break, though not planned, was the best thing to do. School is really taking it out of me. Even now as I write this I'm worrying about tweaking two English essays and completing four pages of math for my tutor for tomorrow.

I am planning on getting organised though, so *hopefully* I will be posting a whole lot more now! I can't promise anything though. Let me tell you, the summer holiday cannot come fast enough! *reaches out to the metaphorical green light* *can you tell what book I'm currently studying for English? ;)*

I have been missing you all SO much and will hopefully be catching up on all the blog posts I've missed later tonight! :)

Happy Reading,
Rachel xoxo

PS: My sidebar and a couple pages are a little messy, sorry about that. Will be tidying up soon!
