Showcase Sunday #3

Sunday, 3 June 2012
Showcase Sunday is a meme hosted by Vicky over at Books, Biscuits & Tea where we showcase all of our recent book grabs.

For Review/Gifted:

The Spook's Blood by Joseph Delaney - This book actually came recently in the mail as a surprise package from Random House! It looks pretty cool... and creepy! The only thing is that this book is a later book in a series so I'm not sure if I have to have read the whole series to understand it or if it can work perfectly fine as a standalone - it does have character profiles at the beginning... Do any of you know? I believe this book is released sometime later this year. Anyway, thank you Random House!

Destined by Aprilynne Pike - I received a copy of this book through the mail for review a while back and you can find what I thought about it here. I have absolutely loved this series from the word go and the final instalment was no exception! Five stars! Thank you for my copy, Harper Collins!

Purchased Ebooks:

Delirium by Lauren Oliver - I was browsing through iBooks when I came across this ebook for only £1.99, and with all the hype surrounding it, I decided to buy it as it had such a reasonable price. I'm so glad I finally managed to give it a read - it was great! However, the ebook cover pictured isn't my favourite... A review will hopefully be up soon!

Hana (Delirium 1.5) by Lauren Oliver - Shortly after finishing Delirium, I came across Hana as well for a reasonable price. I loved Hana's character in the first book but now that I've finished this one, let's just say I'm not the biggest fan of her anymore! I can't believe what she did! Now, here's where I've got a question for you all. Would you like me to post up a separate mini review of Hana, review it along with Delirium in the same post or just not even bother reviewing it? Please tell me what you think would be best below!

Thanks for stopping by my Showcase Sunday for this week! Please leave links to your own book hauls below and I'll pop by as soon as I can! :D

Happy Reading,
Rachel xoxo

PS: Please vote for what you think on my new poll! :)

  1. I think a review of Hana along with Derilium would be best :). I have heard quite a lot about Derilium but not read it myself.

  2. I really, really want a copy of Destined. I've heard it's a very epic end to the series. It don't want it to end!!

  3. You got Spook!!! I've read the first two of the series actually. I'm not sure if you can read it without reading the other ones. I vote for "yes". Try the first chapters and if it's too complicated then stop it. It is indeed rather creepy but i totally love the series :D

And never seen this cover of Delirium before! Nice eyes!
    Happy reading :D

  4. I almost bought Delirium a while ago but I didn't have the money, I can't wait for when I can read it. I think you should review the books together :)

Here is my BB&B for anyone else who is intersted.

  8. Ooh, I don't think I've heard anything about the Joseph Delaney series! It sounds a little creepy for my tastes but I really hope that you enjoy it if you do end up giving it a shot! :) Ahhh, the Wings series. I read the first book a year or two ago and wasn't the biggest fan - it was okay, just nothing special. Now I'm wondering if I should give them another try though. Maybe I was just having a bad day? Do you think I'll enjoy it more after the first book?

LAUREN. OLIVER. <3 Really, not much else to say. I LOVE all of her work... isn't her writing just stunning? Hmm... I think I would like to see 2 separate reviews (it's just easier for me to distinguish that way) but if it would be easier for you to do them together, that's great too! I just hope that you end up reviewing Hana as I would love to hear your thoughts on that.

    Happy reading! <3

  9. Seeing your book haul has just reminded me to HURRY UP and read all the books in the Wings series!!! I remember getting halfway through Spells then I got distracted so I haven't actually finished it yet! Hopefully I'll get the chance to read them all during the summer :)

I'm not actually a big fan of Delirium *cue gasps of schock* I just couldn't get into the book, I tried reading it twice but I just gave up near the start. All the hype about it from other bloggers has tempted me to give it another go... I'll be keeping an eye out for your review <3
