Qu: How do you handle a book you don’t like? Do you DNF or do you power through?
I actually do a bit of both. But I'm more than likely to put a book down after a while if it's not holding my interest. The last book I really didn't like but managed to power through was Seraphina by Rachel Hartman. Though, now that I think about it, was over a year ago! So, yeah, I'll not finish a book if I'm not enjoying it - especially when I've got a towering TBR pile to get through!
If you follow, thank you SO much! Leave a link to your own blog and I'll return the favour! ^.^
Happy Reading,

I usually DNF. If I stay, it's for the characters. New follower, check out my FF at www.myviewpointonbooks.blogspot.com :)
ReplyDeleteI never DNF a book... my OCD is terrible and I have to finish everything I start doing or reading :(

Like you I hardly ever, stop reading books if I have any trouble with them or I don't enjoy them. But I've stopped 2 books this year and it always makes me down when I do that especially if its a tour book!
ReplyDeleteI haven't one of these for such a long time either Rachel. Great Post! :)
I set aside sometimes to rather than just straight DNF. Sometimes I come back later and end up liking the book after a break... new follower via GFC and bloglovin.
ReplyDeleteMe too. I do my best to power through but there's just that rare time when I simply cannot do it. Even then, I'll still try to go a little further, but still end up DNFing it because I couldn't get through. I have way too many TBR books laying around that I'd like to try to read before I die!

Thanks for stopping by my FF, Rachel, and for following. :)
ReplyDeleteI'll only put a book down if I'm not enjoying it, after trying hard to enjoy it. Life's too short, and there are always loads of other books waiting to be read.
I've followed back via GFC!
Have a good weekend.

I always continue reading books. I don't like to not finish! I'm a GFC follower.
ReplyDeleteI unfortunately don't finish the book if I don't like it! I feel like life is to short and there are so many other books that I want to give a chance ya know.:)

I agree. The TBR list is too long to waste time on something I know isn't for me :) New bloglovin follower. Happy Friday!

I agree :) I have so many books to get through, I can't spend that much time trying to get through one book that I'm not even enjoying!

I'm very inpatient so in the past if it hasn't caught my attention and I can't really be bothered to read it then I usually don't finish or review it. I don't do DNF reviews because usually I dropped off to early to have a good enough sense of the book to review it. But now I try to read until the 100 mark before marking it as DNF.

I do a little of both too.:)

Usually I will give a book 50-100 pages before I DNF if I'm not enjoying it. I used to power through but I no longer have the time and it turned reading into a chore. There are too many books on my tbr pile for me to feel guilty and I'm picky about what I read, so only have 1 DNF so far!

I'll usually do the same thing! There's so many books that are out there that I'd actually enjoy reading so I don't try to force myself to power through a book I really don't like.
